The Turkey Trot!

The Turkey Trott kicked off at around noon on Tuesday November 23 at LBCC. Participants included upwards of 50 students and staff members walking laps around campus to win raffle tickets. Prizes included pies, fruit, flowers, and even turkeys. The event was sponsored by The Independent Association of Classified Employees(IACE).
One Turkey Trotter listens intently as he learns the route in which to walk to get his raffle tickets.

Annette Easdale, one of the people helping put on the event arranges the prizes and hands out tickets as people pass the finish line. "It's simply a holiday tradition," said Easdale about why they put on the event.
Danell Aukerman was among walkers the cold, snowy day of the Trot. Aukerman works on campus in the computer services department keeping SIS in order.

Blood Drive

Bart Rowe, a student at LBCC gets his arm wiped down with iodine before donating blood for the first time ever. There were many students who donated during the two day "Civil War" blood drive.
Shanon Harb donates blood during day two of the blood drive this was not her first time donating and she did it because she "hadn't done it in a while."
John "J-Bear" Cavasos has donated blood many times and says he feels that it is his patriotic duty. "There are soldiers out there fighting for our freedom. This is the least I can do," said Cavasos.

Photo Story

I think for my photo story I am going to shoot the First Burger restaurant in downtown Albany. I think I could get some good photos of the owner and workers as well as possibly going to one of their many local suppliers for some more in depth photos.

My Neighborhood (Week6)

A shot looking south on Hill Street in Albany from my apartment, The Hill Street Apartments.
Tony Carroll has been doing his laundry at the Queen and Hill Laundromat (shown bellow) for years. He lives a few blocks away from the laundromat on 10th Ave. in Albany. "I do all of my laundry here... except in December." Carroll explained that in the month of December the attached catering business starts to make prime ribs with A LOT of garlic, leaving his clothing smelling like garlic so he has to go somewhere else for his laundry needs.
Queen and Hill Laundromat in west Albany has always been there for years becoming a permanent fixture in my neighborhood.
